Fighting

I've been housesitting this week and it always gives me time to contemplate things...people...myself. I've really been struggling with all of the above in just this year alone. Especially myself. I thought I "found" myself when I turned 30, but now I'm not so sure. Is it really true that you get wiser as you get older?

I feel like I get up fighting everyday. Fighting things. Fighting myself. The Bible tells us that Satan comes to kill, steal and destroy. He is stealing my joy. He is destroying me. He is putting negative thoughts in my head on a constant basis.

And I'm tired of fighting.

I was listening to the radio this evening and the host was speaking to a single girl that was afraid to start a relationship because she didn't want her heart to be broken. The host then reminded her that life is all about taking chances. About living in the moment. About the blessings we do have rather than the ones we don't.

And that's me. I feel like I'm fighting for something I do not have. I want to be thankful for the things I do have. I want to live in the Spirit, not the flesh.

Romans 8:35-39 says who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction or anguish or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written, because of You we are being put to death all day long; we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered. In all these things we are more than victorious through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that not even death or life, angels or rulers, things present or things to come, powers, height or depth, or any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (HCSB)

Satan cannot separate me from my God. Things, people and myself may get in the way but because of Him, I will overcome.
